Since 2022, Le Village de la Madeleine has been evolving and offers you a single ticket allowing you to access the entire site: guided tour of the site*, audio guide tour narrated by the site team and the craftsmen, visit of the Farm of the Peasants of the Madeleine, exhibition “looks at the peasant world”, troglodyte trail and the cingle de la Vézère, demonstration of craftsmen*.

Child rates apply up to 13 years old.

Bring headphones so you can enjoy the audio guide for free on your smartphone or tablet. If you do not have one, headphones will be offered to you at the entrance for only €2. The audio guide is available in French, English, Spanish and Dutch.

Guided tour

It is the signature of la Madeleine! You will go back in history by going to meet our Magdalenian ancestors. Then you will discover how this troglodyte village was laid out and inhabited, from the Middle Ages until the end of the 19th century. During 1h15, you will be immersed in this unique way of life and carried by the precise comments of our passionate guides.

Unguided Tour

This choice of visit allows you to discover the Site at your own pace. On your way, explanatory panels will provide you with information and guide your route. Anxious to convey the key points to you and make you relive the emotions of these places, a guide booklet and an audio guide are included in this ticket. Available in French and in English.

Privilege Visit

A Privilege Visit with Christophe Vigerie, historian speaker and author.
About two hours of interactive visit.

La Madeleine offers an exceptional reading of the various reasons that have determined the human occupation of the Vézère Valley for 400,000 years. During this visit we invite you to discover the long construction of this landscape where the hunters-collectors of prehistory flourished as much as the populations that will follow until our contemporary era.

Book your ticket on the online ticket office (in the options, choose Privilege visits) and remember the date on which you wish to make this visit. We will contact you by phone or email to confirm the day of your arrival.

If the gauge is too low (below 8 people) the visit will be cancelled. We will let you know in advance and your “Privilege Visit” ticket will be refunded.

Les Paysans de la Madeleine

From March to November, the Peasant Farm can be visited independently after visiting the troglodyte site. In the program ; Farm animals, Exhibition “views of the peasant world” (Visual and sound museum on the Peasants of Périgord), Demonstration of bread, Vegetable garden, Medicinal garden… An exciting audio guide will tell you the history of this place and the peasant traditions. It is carried out with the testimonies of the farmers of the Valley.

Les visites guidées ou libres (avec audioguide ou livret) sont au même tarifs. Des options vous seront ensuite proposées (visite de la ferme, ateliers enfants, repas…) selon les plannings. Pour l’audioguide, munissez-vous de vos écouteurs. Si vous n’en disposez pas, des écouteurs vous sont proposés pour 2€ seulement.

Guided or unguided visits (with audioguide or booklet) are at the same price. You will then be offered options (farm visit, children’s workshops, meals, etc.) according to the schedules. For the audio guide, bring your headphones. If you don’t have one, headphones are available for just € 2.
